Artify Gallery presents Re-encounter, a joint exhibition by local artists, reconstructing human connections through the lenses of contemporary and ancient icons. Featuring the works of Bambi Lam, Apple Wong and David Wong the exhibition runs from 9 December 2014 to 17 January 2015.
You are invited to the Opening Reception on 9th December from 6-9pm to meet the artists and the new artworks made in 2014!
Bambi Lam － Bambi Ceiba: the Tree of Life
Lam portrays newborn babies safeguarded by the majestic Ceiba trunk or the gentle Ceiba blossoms. Turning to distant and archaic ideologies, the artist reminds contemporary audiences of the forgotten and discarded nourishments that nature continues to bestow.
Apple Wong － In Between
Unable to fathom the thoughts of even our closest ones, we are bound to review relationships subjectively. Such discrepancy between the truth and subjective perception create an inevitable distance between human beings – a metaphorical space that the artist is keen to explore.
David Jasper Wong － Etching the origin
Having been through a painful departure with his life partner, David Wong seeks to reconstruct relationships in their crudest form. Utilising ancient etching and stencil technics, Wong creates the self portrait Head of a Young Man and crossword puzzles that only speaks to those who have savoured life in its best and worst.
